Monday 9-14-09, catching up from a long time of posting.

Ok, I know I havne't posted in a while again, and I hope to start changing that again. I guess I"ll catch some things up from the last couple of days, and then get into what's going on today.
Monday, 9-07-09, was the last week day that HersheyPark was open. So now on weekdays business isn't as bad. The people that come to just the zoo tend to be nicer people. Due to the weather last week it wasn't too busy of a week for me. On Friday I closed after just a few hours because there were no guest in the zoo.
Saturday, 9-12-09, we went to the PA Ren Faire. Even though it rained we had a fun day. Cathy and I invited Josh with. I guess he had fun, he seemed to. We saw several of the shows, and watched the jousts. We usually miss the jousts due to wanting to watch other shows, but what we like to see wasn't there this year. While walking around we stopped by the "Baby Dragon" stand, and Cathy decided to purchase a baby dragon. They are actually nice little lizards. According to the paper they are green anoles. They said they could baby sit it for us, and we could pick it up at the end of the day, which we did. Cathy also got her beer jug refilled, and picked that up on our way out too.
On Sunday, 9-13-09, I stayed home from church. I wanted to rest from Saturday, and get some things done around the house. Like I usually do on Sundays, I went to do my wash, and a few other chores. I dod get my 2 meter radio hooked up so I can use it from the attic. I want to get it set up in my car too, but I need to get a new mic for it. I can't send the tones needed to access the IRLP, which I like to use. Then once Cathy got home from her parents we went to get stuff for the baby dragon.
We had an old aquarium in the attic, so we planned on using that. We needed to get a screen cover for it, a small heater(to get one side a little warmer then the other), a heat/UV lamp, and of course dirt and decorations. We covered the bottom with about an inch of gravel, then wet it(to keep the plant roots wet). Then we added about an inch of dirt at the low end, and aobut three to four inches of dirt at the high end. Plus on the high end we put the plants in for the baby dragon to craw on. We also gave her a small half log to craw on, the bamboo from her original cage, and her sea shell from the original cage. We then decided to add a litte more color we would put the green gravel that was in the original cage in for her too.
So after we got it all set up we monitored the temperature and humidity until we were ready to go to bed, and found that with the heater on, and the light on, it stayed in the range that is good for them. The humidity was a little low, but that can be fixed just by misting the cage. Over night the cage isn't getting quite as cold as I've read it should on the internet, but over the next few days I'm sure we can get all that worked out.
One problem I did find is that our ferret seems to be getting jealous. From the time when we started setting up the baby dragon cage, until we went to bed last night, he just wasn't acting himself. If we got him out of his cage, and let him run, or played with him, he seemed fine. As soon as we put him back in he would just lay there and stare at us like he was depressed. And again this morning he kept doing the same thing. I really think he's jealous of our new pet.
Well now onto today. A little of today was mentioned talking about Scratch, our ferret, and the baby dragon. But that was only the first few hours. After checking the baby dragon's cage, and making sure everything was ok, we decided to feed her. We have live crickets for her. We dropped three in, we were only trying to put two in, but a third on fell out of the tube. So we just left them in. She went after two of them and ate them. After getting her fed, I did up scratch's pen, and left him run. Before leaving for work I checked on them and Scratch was acting depressed, and I noticed that the baby dragon seemed to be browner then usual. So I looked that up quickly.
According to the internet they get brown when they are upset/depressed. So that now makes it look like I have two depressed pets. I wasn't sure what to do. I talked to Scratch, and that cheared him up, but I don't know to chear up a lizzard. I did mist her cage again, and that seemed to help some.
When I got to work this morning, I found that things weren't cleaned properly last night. That's one problem with the park being open weekends, and me being off. I know I"m coming in to a mess. I ended up spending most of the time opening just cleaning up what wasn't done last night. There are somethings that I figure I'll clean when I do my end of the night cleaning, since they will just get dirty again throughout the day.
I kind of forgot, but didn't, that Harry was taking over today as our area brown tag. I really think him taking over will be good for the area. There is a lot I want to ask him about, and see if I can get a lot fixed, but I want to give him some time to get settled in. He did come over to unlock my safe, and he asked if I needed anything, and I wanted to tell him everything we needed, but I didn't. I figured that would scare him off. I just have to make sure that I remember everything over the next few months. I figure I'll make a list of what needs done, and then order it by importance, and then start asking him about it.
I guess today was an ok day of work. I did get a small lunch rush, and between that and the other customers, I think it was enough to pay for me being here. Like most days when I"m working by myself, when I took my lunch I had to server some guests in between eating, but I"m used to that now.
Since there was so much left from yesterday for me to do, I figured I should start my precleaning early. Like most days, while I was precleaning I got a little busy. But over all it wasn't too bad, and the precleaning went really good.
